Winter Morning Skincare

1/17/2015

Hey guys! It's that time of the year again, where I have to pay extra attention to moisturizing my skin, to prevent dryness. The winter this year has been pretty harsh on my skin, but luckily I have perfected my skincare routine!

After a lot of research and trying out different products, I found the ones that work best for my skin! Keep in mind, my skin type is combination, so these products may or may not work for you! Luckily, most companies have products that cater to different skin types, so be sure to do your own little research before you purchase any products! Okay, let's get started!

Morning Skincare Routine:
Picture
  • Cleanse. The first thing I do morning and night, is wash my face ( Obviously after brushing my teeth!)! It's good to start off with a fresh canvas and work my way up! I have been loving the Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Cream Cleanser.

It's the perfect cleanser to use in the morning, since it's not too abrasive on your skin. I like my morning cleansers to be creamy, so that it's more moisturizing! It's 98% natural, with ingredients like wintergreen and palm glycerin, therefore less chemicals on my face! That's always a good way to start the day! It's lathers up really well and doesn't make my face feel tight or over-dry after the use. Plus, it has an amazing scent, and makes for a good pick-me-up in the morning!

  • Toner. This step just recently got included into my skincare routine. I always thought I could go without a toner, but once I started to use one regularly, I realized I was missing out! Toners help in balancing your skin's pH level. I have been using the Lancome Paris Tonique Confort Rehydrating Toner, and am obsessed! It's the perfect mix of moisture, without making my skin feel greasy! I haven't even told you the best part, its ingredients include a soothing formula made with honey and sweet almond extract! That alone should be convincing enough! Even though it's a bit on the pricey side, it's totally worth your buck!

  • Serum. Another one of my recent additions to my skincare routine is the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Serum. This product to begin with, looks so fancy for a drugstore brand! I love the packaging ( good job, Neutrogena!) It's a pump, hence, very sanitary, so you know I'm already loving it! I use it after my Lancome toner has absorbed into my skin.
Just about two pumps is good enough for a full-face coverage. I concentrate it more towards my under eye area and the corners of my mouth. It's super lightweight and goes on very smooth. It's got Retinol SA, Hyaluronic Acid and Glucose Complex which help in diminishing dark spots, and helps rejuvenate the skins' look and texture.

  • Moisturize. This is the last step in my facial morning skincare routine! By this time my skin is a pretty happy camper, but to just seal the deal, I always make sure to moisturize. Especially with the winter season, the last thing I want is a dry, flaky face! And ladies keep in mind, a dry face is never a good canvas for applying makeup! So always always moisturize before you head out! My go to moisturizer for the past few months has been the Neutrogena Oil-free Moisturizer with SPF 35. I always try to get a moisturizer with a high SPF, to help me protect myself from the sun! Every bit counts right?

With a few pumps of this moisturizer, I massage it well onto my face using my fingers in a figure 8 motion. Don't forget your neck too! Once that's done, I use my EOS lip balm in Blueberry Acai, to prevent any chapped lips!

I usually shower at night, but the odd days that I do shower in the morning I use the Neutrogena Rainbath Renewing Shower Gel , in the scent pear and green tea! If you haven't already, I urge you to go try it! It's very inexpensive, about $8 from your local drugstore! It's the perfect shower gel that gives your senses a refreshing boost of energy! I always follow up with a body moisturizer, and lately I have been using the Nuian Heritage African Black Soap. It's got lots of organic ingredients such as : oats, aloe vera, sandalwood oil, jojoba oil and vitamin E. Lot's of goodness!

So there you have it! Four simple steps to achieve a well moisturized face, ready for make up or just as is! I assure you, if you are doing these four steps, the next few months of winter won't be too harsh on your skin! It only takes a few minutes, but it's absolutely worth it! What are some of your morning skincare products?

    xx

ps. This post was sponsored by Neutrogena, but the opinions are all mine! :)
pss. All products mentioned above can be bought at your local drugstore, ie Target or Walgreens. I purchased the Lancome toner in a gift purchase a few months ago from Macy's
