Hi there, beautiful people! Today's post is going to be somewhat of a luxury post. It's the extra step that some of us don't take during our routine skincare regimes. I purchased these lip scrubs from Lush, a few months back on the spur of the moment. I wasn't sure, if I would actually continue using them, but the girl at Lush was so convincing, I couldn't resist! But then again, Lush in general just has that effect on me; I go into just have a look and walk out with numerous goodies!
I have always considered Lush to be a way to pamper myself, and till date I have been pleased and satisfied with all of my purchases there. So it was only fitted that I pick up these lip scrubs to pamper myself! I picked up the Popcorn lip scrub and the Mint Julips.
They both were fairly reasonably priced, and with the satisfactory experience I've had with Lush before, I didn't think twice about purchasing them. The packaging is simple, just a glass jar with a plastic lid, that twists up. But what I am most impressed with these lip scrubs and all Lush products is the fact that they all have expiration dates of their products. I know a lot of Asian and UK cosmetic brands include a "best use by - date" and I wish American companies will start eventually too! Back to the scrubs, they very fragrant, so make sure you like the flavor/scent you pick up, since it'll linger on your lips for a few hours. I still can't decide which one is my fav out of the two!
The consistency is almost like soft sand, mimicking a raw sugar texture, and can be applied directly to your lips. A little goes a long way with this product, and they only thing you have to do to achieve those soft lips is, scrub it on your lips and wash away! I usually use it in they shower. They say in the directions you can lick after scrubbing too, but the idea of licking dead skin doesn't sound appealing to me.
It is enough product to last you a few months, so you don't need to be stingy while using the scrub. The Popcorn scrub tastes exactly like a buttery delicious popcorn bowl! It's both salty and sweet at the same time, without it being oily and greasy! It's a pale yellow scrub that I will definitely be repurchasing!
The Mint Julips scrub is a soft mint green color and gives you the sense of biting into peppermint patty! It has such an invigorating scent and I think it's the perfect way to unwind after a long day! It's descriptions says that is a tasty mint chocolate sugar scrub for smooth and sweeter kisses! I mean, who doesn't want that!? Lol Even though I love the Popcorn scrub, I've seen myself to grab for the Mint Julips one more!
Both the scrubs are sugar scrubs, Castor sugar to be exact. Sugar scrubs are great for your skin for many reasons! They are natural humectants, which simply means that the sugar draws moisture from the environment and into your skin, this way it is actually helping your skin to stay moisturized and hydrated. Sugar is also essentially a glycolic acid, which is used in treatments for sun damage and aging, plus it has a great cell turnover rate. And last but not least, sugar is known to be a great skin exfoliant to buff off dead skin cells and reveal healthy glowing skin!
All Lush products are handmade free of preservatives and mostly vegan. They are active against animal testing and overall a good company with excellent customer service! I highly recommend using lip scrubs, these ones of any other brands. They are not only perfect pampering goodies, but also they help in prepping your lips before application of any lipsticks!
ps. all Lush products can be brought from their stores directly or through their website.
