Happy weekend everyone!
I thought I'd share this super healthy and quick recipe for a green juice today! I think it's the perfect way to start my day, with a glass full of antioxidants and foods to get me pumped and ready for the day! Green juices are great, because you can really add just about anything to them to make them appeal your taste buds! I find them a little lighter to take in as well, when compared to smoothies or milkshakes.
I've been drinking this recipe of green juice for about two weeks now daily, and I can honestly say, I start off my day refreshed and energized. I am all about my coffee fix, but starting the day off with a healthier option has done wonders for in the in the energy department. I feel less sluggish and lethargic, which is always a bonus!
Green Juice Benefits:
I do however want to stress that green juices shouldn't be supplemented for meals. Don't get me wrong, they are excellent sources of vitamins and antioxidants, plus an amazing way to drink your greens. They are however low in calories and proteins. So don't skimp out on a nutritional breakfast or lunch!
My Green Juice Recipe:
What you will be needing:
Preparation and blending:
I start off by adding frozen fruit. I prefer buying frozen fruit for my juices over fresh fruit, because they are already chopped up and the frozen texture add a little crunchy-ness to the juice. I always get the Tropical blend, with mangoes and pineapples, but they also have an antioxidant blend at the store.
Next, I add a handful of washed spinach, I don't usually chop my spinach, since it's going to get blended anyways! You can always add more greens, like kale or lettuce for more flavor and nutrition!
Following the spinach, I add my glass of water. I usually just add regular water, but from time to time, will switch it up with coconut water, for a bit more flavor! The days I use coconut water instead, I use the Vita Coco pure coconut water. I feel that is the closest taste to coconut water that I've tasted so far!
The last ingredient I add are a teaspoon of chia seeds. They are available in all local drugstores and pharmacies. They have great nutritional benefits, with a very low calorie count. They are loaded with antioxidants, proteins and an amazing source for omega-3 fatty acids. I could just go on and on with it's beneficial properties!
Next, I just blend away!
So there you have it! A super easy green juice, that will take you less than 10 minutes to make. It's a great way for me to start my day, by putting something so healthy and refreshing into my body first thing in the morning! You can modify this recipe a hundred different ways, which is why I love this so much! Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend!
