Over the past few months, I have tried to make an effort to start cooking at home for the week on weekends, so essentially I have been meal prepping! It's a fairly new phenomenon to me to cook for the entire week in advance, but I have appreciated the extra time I am getting during the week for myself. Meal prepping is great for everyone in my opinion, whether you are a student, busy parent, working or all of the above.
With prepping my meals, I am able to control what I put into my body, I have noticed my energy levels going up throughout the day, since I am packing foods that will help refuel my body, and I am also saving a lot of money by buying groceries and utilizing them for the week ahead.
Because I have noticed a turn around with budgeting my expenditure and my time, I want to continue my meal preps, and so much so that I would love to share them with you all! This post today, is to get everyone up to speed about what this new series on my Health tab will be all about. Make sure you are following me on Instagram to keep up with my posts on my future meal preps.
I usually stick to a general idea of what I want to incorporate in my meals, and this may vary person to person. The needs of different food groups that are important to me, might not workout for you, so I strongly suggest you to do your research and figure out what your body needs.
I am trying to gain muscle weight, therefore I opt for foods with a high protein content, I am also not shying away from high calorie foods, but I do like options. I have always been fond of lots of veggies, so you will be seeing a lot of vegetarian options in my recipes. I have found that a well balanced diet with the proper physical activity makes a lot of difference for my body type.
So while it might seem as though I am piling on a lot of carbohydrates to some, it is mostly because I have a workout planned for that day, that will require me to have a high energy level for that day. With that being said, I want to highlight again, that it is very important that all of you do your research on foods and exercises that are right for your body and lifestyle.
So that concludes the introduction post, please feel free to contact me with any questions you all may have. I am not an expert, and am still learning, but want to document my journey with you all! Stay tuned for the next 2016 Meal Prep post that will be coming up soon!
