I have recently become a huge fan of Maybelline products, I tend to always just hop around drugstore brads and try out as many products from their collections. This year I feel it will be all about Maybelline, so except a bunch of Maybelline- centered posts! (Not sponsored).
I was so excited to see that drugstore brands are stepping their game and launching contouring palettes, so I decided to go ahead and give it a try. Now till this palette I had tried a bunch of contouring products, from higher end all the way down to affordable. I also had a very specific product in mind that could not be so costly, since I only really contour on special occasions or events. I also wanted something that would be hassle free and wouldn't require a lot of work on my part. I am all about fast application.
So with all my specifications, I figured this palette would be a good place to start. I bought it at Ulta knowing that if I wasn't impressed with it, I can return it. Ulta is so good that way!
The Maybelline Face Studio Master Contour Kit has pretty sturdy packaging which makes it easy to travel with. I like that it's slender and not a bulky or chunky product. I only wish the plastic glass was a mirror. It has three shades with engraved steps 1, 2, 3 on the product itself. I think that will resonate well with people new to contouring. I picked up the shade 20 - Medium to Deep. Both shades come with 3 colors and a small brush. I am not sure what contouring can be done with that brush, but it can be used maybe for a crease eye shadow perhaps.
I like the fact that
the colors are so bleandable and easy to contour and highlight with.
the contour shade is perfect for my skin tone
I can use the blush shade even as an eyeshadow
I am not too fond of the fact that
the brush is pretty much useless for contouring
(something I can overlook)
the packaging could be better
there is no mirror in the kit
All in all, I think Maybelline did a wonderful job in creating this kit. It's high time that drugstore step up and venture out into high end make up products too! I would recommend this to anyone starting off with contouring, or someone who just doesn't want spend an arm and leg to get a contoured look!
