Hey all! Just wanted to share with you all some of my favorite makeup products that I have been loving in the month of June! xx
Usually in the summer months, I try to stay away from foundation if I can! I'll maybe wear some sort of BB creams, if I need the extra coverage, but most often I prefer a really good concealer. I have been using the NARS creamy concealer for a few months now and I absolutely love it!! I am actually on my second tube now, and honestly, I may never go back to using foundation...everr!! I find that it conceals my dark circles, if I had a long night before, or any pigmentation on my skin. It's creamy enough to stay on through out the day, but not in a greasy way! I am in the shade Biscuit.
Just to make sure that my concealor doesn't budge at all throughout the day, I usually just swirl my powder brush with the Mac Prep+Prime powder to set everything in! Also, since I have combination skin, it prevents my T-zone area to stay matte and dry throughout the day! I have used almost all types of translucent powders out there, drugstore and higher end, and found that the MAC one does the job, without any hassle!
Going with the whole minimalist life that I am all about these days! I always try to find those two in one products, so that I can kill two birds with one stone, metaphorically speaking, of course! I discovered the Physician's Formula Happy Booster Bronzer a few summers ago at Walgreens during one of their massive sales! I had never tried this product, let alone the brand, but I'm so glad I did! It's one of the cutest packaged products I may have ever seen! The product is designed in hearts, which when you blend all the shades of the bronzer together, you get this gorgeous glowy result! You could totally fake that "I just went to the Bahama's and got an amazing tan" look! Other reviewers have mentioned a scent, but I can't smell anything lol! It also comes with a cute little brush and a compact mirror! I have used this as a bronzer an a blush.
I am all about NARS blushes lately! They are SO pigmented and the product last forever, on my skin and my makeup bag! lol I find that Nars blushes have great color pay off and don't fade away as the day goes on! I have been loving the blush shade in Torrid for June! It's vibrant and playfull for summer months! I think it's a great shade for all skin tones! Also, it's one of those blushes you can pair with any look day or night!
The only other Smashbox product I have ever used was their primers before, and was pretty impressed by them! So I wasn't hesitant on trying out the Smashbox Full Exposure eye shadow duo in the shades S3/M3.
I took this on my trip with me to Punta Cana recently, and was very pleased with the color payoff! The shadows did not smudge or fade away and gave off a pretty champagne sultry look which was very vacay appropriate!
I loved the fact that it's so compact that all I had to take for my trip was this eye shadow duo and I could get a fun and subtle look from this palette!
I cannot tell you how many eye liners I have gone through in the past few years! They all were great, till they smudged or gave me raccoon eyes, or made me looked like I got punched in the face! The only reason I even stumbled upon the Sephora makeup collection was thanks to my sister! I've always just walked past the entire Sephora collection makeup counter, just thinking that in a pool of higher end products, Sephora probably won't match up! But last year, I needed a good eye liner that would withstand the Indian heat and humidity, especially during wedding seasons! So reluctantly I bought the Sephora waterproof crayon contour kohl pencil! My life if literally changed! No more raccoon eyes! The eyeliner just does not smudge! To the point, I now need to use eye makeup remover to remove it! ( I would recommend the L'ancome eye make up remover). I use for both my lower waterline and on my upper lid! Best part, it's only around $12 dollars!
Dramatic eyes in the summer time are just perfect! Since, I'm more on the classic looks, I don't normally play around with eye shadows, and usually stick to the basics! For me, It's all about the lashes! A good curl that stays paired with some jet black mascara for summer night, and a more natural black brown shade during the day! I always condition my eyelashes with some vitamin e oil at night, so they are well protected from all the chemicals of mascara. After curling my lashes, I usually apply one coat of the L'ancome Black mascara, maybe two coats if I'm feeling rebellious! lol The nights when I planned ahead, and acutally do have ample time to get ready, I like using the L'ancome CILS BOOSTER XL Super-Enhancing Mascara Base, but more often than not, I either forget or just don't have the time! lol
I have been loving the e.l.f eyebrow kit in the shade medium, this past month, mainly because well groomed eyebrows can really change up a look! It automatically gives you such a fresh look, a look that looks like you put hours and hours of work perfecting, when in reality, you just did your eyebrows! I have always been oblivious to matter of filling them in, but believe me, it will change the way you do your make up! I bought the elf eyebrow kit to begin with, since it's only $3, and figured once I got the hang of it, would purchase a higher end product, but I have been so pleased with this product, that I never felt the need for an upgrade!
So I'll usually just use a eyebrow brush or a spooley brush to just comb through my brows, and then use the wax on the left to fill in any gaps or thin hairs I may have. Then with the powder on the right, I just pat down the hairs and wax to make sure they don't move and stay in place! I find that the brush that comes with the duo compact is good enough for application! It's one of my holy grail makeup products!
I am just realizing that I might just be a tad bit obsessed with NARS products! I swear you guys, this post is not sponsored by NARS lol!! I'm just the type of person that if I like one product from a brand, I tend to think I'll love all of their products, and so far I've been lucky that way! So moving on, this lipstick in the shade Janet, from NARS, has been the lippy of the month for me! I have used this both day and night looks and have gotten soo many compliments! It's a beautiful plum shade, not too fall-y and still got subtle tones of playful pinks for the summer time! I would however, probably wear this shade all year round! Also, can we talk about how fun NARS lipstick packaging are? I mean magnetic cases! Good job NARS!!
I found about this amazing product last summer from one of my friends, and have been in love with it ever since! ( thanks sims!) The Kat Von D liquid lipstick in the shade Bachelorette is absolutely stunning for a summer shade! It's fun, flirty and gives you the exact pop of color any makeup look needs!
It's a liquid lipstick, so it dries off matte, which I love! I do recommend you all to wear a super moisturizing lip balm or lip butter before applying this product, as it can get drying to the lips! Also, I always have to an use eye makeup remover to remove this lipstick completely off my lips! So all in all, it's worth purchasing and a little product goes a long way!
So there you have it! So much had happened this past month, and I was glad to have these products with me to make me look fabulous! If you guys don't have these products, I highly suggest you all do a little shopping! Hope the summer is going great for everyone!
